Eco Homes events allow people to visit homes across the UK to see how they can cut fuel, save energy and make their homes more comfortable. The events boast a wide range of homes from Regency to new build. Read more
Open eco homes co-ordinator in Cambridge, Allan Shepherd said: “Cambridge’s first co-housing project – a 42 home development known as K1 was open to the public; as was a new build kit home-made of super-insulated factory-made panel walls; and a St John’s college student house renovation and a house with a hempcrete DIY wall insulation workshop. Shepherd continued: “Meeting actual householders is a great experience for visitors. Every one of them has unique knowledge to pass on because every house is different and everyone has carefully chosen the home improvements right for them and their home.” Practical information, inspiration and advice is always shared at the events. UK Passivhaus Open Days
In the autumn of each year Passivhaus buildings across the UK open their doors to the public to share their experiences of the benefits that Passivhaus design can deliver. 2018 will see the 15th consecutive International Passivhaus Open Day events by the Passivhaus Institute and its affiliates. Almost 400 passivhaus projects, from 26 countries took part in the international event last year. Passivhaus is believed by many to be a solid basis for a sustainable energy future, combining superior user comfort and healthy indoor environments with minimal energy use.
