Sustainable luxury living with egg

Thanks to a range of ground-breaking sustainable features and prominent partnerships with leading research and development teams, a hamlet of properties set on generous plots overlooking the rolling Cumbrian countryside will have SAP ratings of between 92% and 98% and have been described by an SAP Surveyor as ‘one of the best-performing projects I have ever seen’.

Viver Green is a collection of 19 elegant residences marrying innovative contemporary design with the very latest energy-efficient technology. The four and five bedroom homes offer a choice of six different designs and all feature balconies and landscaped front and rear gardens. They are located within 10 minutes’ drive of Kendal and Oxenholme railway station – which connects directly to London Euston – and are 20 minutes from Windermere. Phase 1 was fully reserved within a week with buyers originating both from the local area and across the UK, including Bath and Oxford. Sales for Phase 2 have just been launched.

Beyond the technical assets of each property the eggHomes development team, a trio of professionals specialising in the construction sector, is absolutely passionate about reinvesting in the local community. As such they have already engaged in a number of socially responsible contributions which means the surrounding residents are unanimously in support of the project.

Co-founders Chris Nelson, Ashley Reece and Matthew Eves are working directly with local governments to extend and re-open a trail way that currently culminates at the Viver Green boundary and in addition are creating a community orchard within the site that will be managed and used by local charity Growing Well. eggHomes will also be installing the fastest broadband in the whole of the UK to the development and surrounding area, has employed a local apprentice and created a competition for school children to choose the name of the development.

Challenging traditional building techniques, eggHomes is one of the few developments in the UK to be utilising Amvic Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) for the property shells, consisting of high-density polystyrene panels with a solid concrete core. This is the strongest insulating concrete framework currently on the market which also provides remarkable thermal and sound insulation, fire safety, thermal mass and durability for the property’s lifetime. Other features of note are triple-glazed aluminium windows and doors, underfloor heating on ground and upper floors, solar panels, solid upper floor construction and intelligent controls.

eggHomes has also forged a partnership with Mitsubishi Electric to provide Ecodan air source heat pumps for each home which respond to the demands of new-build properties and their associated building regulations. The latest version of this market-leading technology, has been specifically designed to match the hot water and heating requirements of new-build homes, providing reliable, renewable heating all year round.

Throughout the build process, the team has reused and recycled resources including concrete, produce aggregates, metals and timbers and has used locally-sourced materials and tradesmen to ensure traditional skills and techniques are supported.

Local estate and letting agents explain why they think the development is such a notable one “As a local agent we are extremely excited by this project and are not at all surprised by the level of interest the initial marketing has created. There are currently no other developments in the area that offer homes of this premium quality and efficiency coupled with ingenious design, meaning these houses really do stand-out from the crowd”.
