Ecological Building Systems will bring together a Passivhaus expert, a timber construction pioneer and a world-famous tourist attraction this November when the company takes its Perfect Airtight Seal Seminar Tour to Belfast’s Titanic venue.
Combining a celebration of the city’s shipbuilding heritage with its pioneering approach to creating a more sustainable, efficient and comfortable built environment, the full day CPD event on Tuesday 6th November will welcome The Passive House Association of Ireland chairman, Paul McAlister as a keynote speaker, along with guest speaker Neil Orr, managing director of Kudos, the Co. Antrim-based design and build specialist in atmospherically-controlled and energy-efficient timber frame homes.
The two prominent guest speakers will join experts from Ecological Building Systems, the BBA and pro clima, the company behind Intello intelligent air tightness membranes, to lead talks, practical demonstrations and take part in a round-table discussion on all issues relating to airtightness, building comfort and specification. Worth six structured CPD points, the event will provide a masterclass for delegates in extending buildings’ service life and protecting them from moisture-related damage.
Explains Neil Orr from Kudos: “We have specialised in high performance, low energy homes for the past 20 years, and achieving high levels of airtightness while protecting the timbers in the structure and taking occupier comfort to the next level is integral to what we do.
This event will provide a forum for enabling us to share our passion and reveal some of the advanced techniques we use to achieve a superior quality of build and comfort. We’re proud to be speaking at an event with so many experts in the field of airtightness, building comfort and moisture control and I expect I’ll learn a thing or two on the day myself!”
A Chartered Architect and the first Passivhaus designer to achieve certification in Northern Ireland, Paul McAlister will also be appearing exclusively at the Northern Ireland event and will provide both the opening address and the keynote speaker summary as well as chairing the roundtable discussion at the event.
Niall Crosson, group technical manager at Ecological Building Systems and one of the speakers at the event continues: “As a Certified Passivhaus Consultant myself and a board member on the Irish Green Building Council I am really excited that some of Northern Ireland’s most prominent figures in sustainable construction have agreed to be part of the line-up for the Belfast event.
It will provide an excellent environment for learning, networking and sharing ideas and we’re looking forward to welcoming delegates to the magnificent Titanic Belfast venue.”
The Belfast event is one of a series of five full-day seminars hosted by Ecological Building Systems to celebrate BBA approval of pro clima Intello Plus. Full details of all events in Swindon, London, Belfast, Glasgow and Birmingham can be found at https://www.intellosealofapproval.com/
