Ashden Awards has launched its call for entries for the 2018 Ashden Awards, offering the chance for global trailblazers in the sustainable buildings sector to receive recognition for their efforts.
The Ashden Awards aim to uncover the most exciting sustainable energy pioneers in the UK and in developing countries and emerging economies which are breaking new ground when it comes to the construction of sustainable, low energy buildings and decarbonisation of cities and urban areas.
Entry to the Awards is free, with one UK winner and one International winner receiving an Award of up to £10,000 each at a prestigious ceremony in London on 14 June 2018.
This year the charity is interested in hearing from organisations in the UK working to reduce energy demand in buildings, including new-build, retrofit, building products and energy management services. It also wants to hear from organisations and projects in developing countries that are working in the built environment to rapidly decarbonise cities and urban areas, to increase their resilience and meet the challenge of rapidly growing populations.
Only awarded to the very best exemplars in their field, an Ashden Award can have a transformative effect on the growth and revenue of winning organisations. As well as the prize money, Ashden provides winners with a wide-ranging package of support, tailor-made to their needs, which can include business support, introductions to policymakers, potential funders and investors, and sharing of expertise.
Speaking about the 2017 crop of winners at this year’s Ashden Awards Ceremony, the former Vice President of the US Al Gore said: “I’m extremely inspired by the work that has been done and is ongoing. These are extremely important projects, not only because of the good they do for the individuals, the families, the communities, and the businesses. But also because these Award winners are examples that inspire others in their communities, in their nations, and people like us who are learning about their amazing work.”
The deadline for entries for the 2018 Ashden Awards is 7 November 2017 at 11.59pm GMT.
